1998 Service : Medical Evacuation from Cable Ship "Sovereign" Location : Falmouth Bay Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 00:50 to evacuate the 3rd Officer from the Cable Ship "Sovereign". The vessel had headed for Falmouth Bay after the female officer had fallen and injured her head. The Offshore Lifeboat placed a Doctor and two first aiders onboard the ship to assess the casualties condition. It was decided due to the weather conditions to wait for the ship to anchor before transferring the casualty to the lifeboat. Once the casualty and medical personnel were safely onboard the lifeboat, they headed back to the lifeboat pontoon where the casualty was transferred to an ambulance for the journey to Treliske Hospital. The Offshore Lifeboat was moored alongside its berth and ready for service by 03:00 Coxswain : Mike Wilson Crew : Roger Mclarity, John Murray, Snowy Angove, Chris Price, David Proud, Ken Avis, Alan Rowe, Dr Slater Weather : SW 6-7, Rough Sea, Fair Visibility, Overcast with Occ Rain |
