  Offshore Lifeboat Call

Date : Saturday 16th May 1998

Service : Possible Missing Canoeist

Location : Malpas, Truro River

 

Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 11:00 to assist in the search for a possible missing canoeist after an empty canoe was seen floating in the River off Malpas, Truro River. The Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat, a Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and the Falmouth Coastguard Mobile Unit were already in attendance and had carried out an initial search.

Shortly after the Offshore Lifeboat was launched it was confirmed that all known canoeist’s were accounted for, the canoe is believed to have been a derelict which had floated off the shoreline. The Offshore Lifeboat therefore returned to station.

The Offshore Lifeboat was ready for service by 11:30
