| Offshore Lifeboat CallDate : Saturday 16th May 1998
Service : Possible Missing Canoeist Location : Malpas, Truro River Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 11:00 to assist in the search for a possible missing canoeist after an empty canoe was seen floating in the River off Malpas, Truro River. The Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat, a Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and the Falmouth Coastguard Mobile Unit were already in attendance and had carried out an initial search. Shortly after the Offshore Lifeboat was launched it was confirmed that all known canoeists were accounted for, the canoe is believed to have been a derelict which had floated off the shoreline. The Offshore Lifeboat therefore returned to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was ready for service by 11:30 Coxswain : David Proud Crew : Tim Julian, John Murray, Ken Avis, Mark Pollard, Dave Burgess Weather : Calm, Calm Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Lifeboat Calls in 1998 : Offshore Lifeboat "Will" (Severn) : 3 Inshore Lifeboat "Falmouth Round Table" (Atlantic 21) : 7 Total Calls (1998) : 10 |
