| Date : Sunday 2nd May 1999 Service: Motor Boat "Ian Jacob", with engine room fire. Location:3 miles East of Zone Point At 17:08 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched and Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was diverted from a previous incident, to the 50ft Motor Boat "Ian Jacob" with seven people onboard (including three children) which had an engine room fire. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived alongside the casualty at 17:19, having had to locate the boat using the GPS navigation system as visibility at the time was reduced to 50m in heavy fog. The Inshore Lifeboat checked that the fire was out and stood by the vessel until the Offshore Lifeboat arrived at 17:32. The five women and children were then transferred to the Offshore Lifeboat by the Inshore Lifeboat. The Offshore Lifeboat then took the "Ian Jacob" in tow placing her safely on her berth at Falmouth Marina at 19:08. The Offshore and Inshore Lifeboats then returned to station, where they were refueled and ready for service by 19:55
